MartinLogan knows a thing or two about sound after 40 years of designing speakers. With the Motion Foundation series, they’ve put all that expertise toward delivering their renowned performance at more accessible prices than ever. The Motion Foundation B1 is the most compact bookshelf speaker in the lineup. It uses driver technologies from MartinLogan’s higher-end designs to deliver rich, precise sound.

Pristine highs that cover a wide area

The B1’s high-frequency reproduction is handled by a second-generation Obsidian Folded Motion® tweeter. This advanced tweeter design uses a thin film that’s folded dozens of times like an accordion to give it more surface area without being gigantic. Since it’s made from a thin material, it’s remarkably lightweight and produces very low distortion. What that means in plain terms is that it has a precise, lightning-quick response that can reproduce subtle nuances in your music with lifelike clarity.

The tweeter also features MartinLogan’s latest Folded Motion Waveguide. It widens and directs the tweeter’s dispersion and ensures sonic consistency across the listening area. That means the sound stays clear even if you’re sitting off to the side.

Trickle-down woofer design

The B1 uses a rigid aluminum 5-1/2″ woofer for the mids and bass. Its design is borrowed from MartinLogan’s more expensive Motion and Motion XT series models and refined to deliver detailed lower midrange and upper bass.
