Wi-Fi, Wiring and Racks in North Jersey
Whole-Home Networking & Wi-Fi
Legacy Smart System designs and installs whole-home Wi-Fi and structured wiring across Passaic, Bergen, Essex and Morris Counties, so your streaming, smart home and security cameras run on a network built for them. The in-home consultation is free.
What Whole-Home Networking Includes
We are a specialty A/V and smart home shop in Woodland Park, NJ, not a big box store. We plan the network the same way we plan a theater or a whole-house audio system: start with how you live in each room, then run the cable and place the gear to match.
A strong network is the base under every TV, speaker, thermostat and camera in the house. Here is what we build for homes in Woodland Park, Wayne, Clifton, Montclair, Ridgewood and the towns around them.
Whole-Home Wi-Fi
Mesh systems and Wi-Fi 6 access points placed room by room, so there are no dead zones on the second floor, in the basement or out by the patio.
Structured Wiring
Cat6, coax and HDMI or HDBaseT runs pulled to one central rack or panel, labeled and tested, so every room connects back to the same place.
Rack Organization
Switches, patch panels, modem and gear mounted in a clean rack with tidy cable management, so the next change takes minutes, not a mystery hunt.
Wired Drops
Hardwired connections for wall-mounted TVs, game consoles, home offices and security cameras, where a cable beats Wi-Fi every time.
Outdoor Coverage
Access points and wiring for the deck, pool area and yard, so outdoor speakers, TVs and cameras stay connected.
Prewire or Retrofit
We run cable before the walls close on a new build or renovation, or fish it through finished walls in a home that is already lived in.
Why Your Network Matters
Streaming, smart lighting, video doorbells and camera feeds all share one network. When it is weak or crowded, the picture buffers, the camera drops out and the smart home stops responding.
It also protects the rest of your investment. A new projector, a whole-house audio system or a set of cameras is only as dependable as the network behind it, which is why we plan the wiring first.
Wired connections handle the heavy, steady traffic, and good access points handle phones, tablets and everything that moves. Together they keep the whole house working.
- Steady streaming on every TV in the house
- Reliable smart home control and voice assistants
- Security cameras that stay online and record

Networking and Wi-Fi Questions
Straight answers to what North Jersey homeowners ask us most.
Why does my Wi-Fi drop out in some rooms?
One router in one spot rarely covers a whole house, especially with several floors, a basement or thick walls. We fix it with mesh systems or Wi-Fi 6 access points placed room by room, usually fed by a wired line, so the signal is strong where you actually use it.
What is structured wiring, and do I still need it with Wi-Fi?
Structured wiring means Cat6, coax and HDMI runs pulled from each room back to a central rack or panel. Yes, it still matters. TVs, consoles, offices and cameras run best on a cable, and wired access points make your Wi-Fi stronger. Wi-Fi then handles phones and tablets.
Can you add network cable to a home that is already built?
Yes. We retrofit cable through finished walls, attics and basements, and mount a neat rack or panel in a central spot. On a new build or renovation it is even easier, because we prewire before the walls close. Either way, we plan the runs at the free consultation.
Do you cover the yard, deck and pool area?
Yes. We add outdoor access points and the wiring behind them so the patio, deck and yard stay online. That keeps outdoor speakers, TVs and cameras connected. If you also want sound outside, we can plan the audio and the network together in the same visit.
How much does a networking project cost?
It depends on the size of the home, the number of wired drops, how many access points you need and whether walls are open for prewire. We do not guess over the phone. Book the free in-home consultation and we will give you a clear estimate for your house.
